India, the country in South Asia, follows parliamentary democracy and is the seventh largest country in the world. The country has the reputation of being one of the oldest civilizations in the world. A wealthy nation in the past, the country was the target of many foreign invaders. The British colonized the place for more than a century. After its independence in 1947, India grew slowly and developed cordial relationships with most of the countries.
