It is bordered by the Republic of Ireland, Atlantic Ocean, Irish Sea, North Sea and the English Channel. The United Kingdom is a developed country which follows a parliamentary system. It is a constitutional monarchy with the queen acting as the head of the state. The country was a big power in the 19th and early 20th centuries with lot of colonies all over the world. It was the first industrialized country in the world. The country economy is still one of the largest in the world.
