New Zealand principally comprises two big islands and many tiny islands. The whole land area was left deserted for millions of years before it became inhabited by humans and led to the extinction of many rare species of animals. The pleasant and mild marine climate of the land favored the colonization by humans, but the diverse geography and mountains make the area susceptible to natural furies like earthquakes, volcanoes etc. The existing system is parliamentary government with the queen as the head of the state. A large percentage of the New Zealand population is Europeans. The country is highly developed economically and this can be attributed to the industrial growth as well as the revenue from foreign exports.
